Local-first screenshot enhancement and library tool
Capture – Forensic-Grade Screenshot Enhancement & Sanitization
Capture 2.0 is a local-first desktop tool built for security professionals and developers who need clean, high-quality screenshots for reports, documentation, and incident analysis. It focuses on improving screenshot clarity while helping remove sensitive information like API keys, IP addresses, or tokens—all while keeping your data fully local.
No uploads. No telemetry. Everything happens on your machine.
What’s New in Version 2.0.0 – The User Update
Smarter image optimization
Capture now includes a Local Image Perception (LIP) system that analyzes screenshots and automatically adjusts them for better clarity. With one click, it can improve readability and visual fidelity without over-processing the image.
Precision annotation tools
The Stylus and Highlighter now use “Smart-Snap” alignment. When annotating screenshots, the tools automatically align with detected text lines, making highlights and markings look clean and intentional instead of messy.
Hardened security model
Version 2.0 completely removes network permissions (network and network-bind). The application cannot access the internet, which eliminates the risk of hidden telemetry or data exfiltration.
Faster workflow
You can now paste screenshots directly into Capture using Ctrl + V, dropping them straight onto the editing canvas for immediate processing.
Simplified interface
The interface has been redesigned into a single-page Command Center, removing redundant controls and creating a more responsive editing workflow.
Core Features
Fine-tuned image adjustments
Adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, and sharpness with precise controls to make screenshots clearer and easier to read in reports.
Sensitive data sanitization
Capture can help detect and redact common sensitive elements such as IP addresses, API keys, email addresses, and access tokens. Manual tools are also available for full control.
Air-gapped privacy
Everything runs locally. Capture does not connect to external services, does not upload images, and does not collect usage data.
Linux-first design
Built for Linux environments with performance and usability in mind, including smooth integration with GNOME-based desktops.
At its core, Capture is built around a simple idea: screenshots used in security work should be clear, professional, and safe to share.
