Rips audio from CD(s) to FLAC, WAV, MP3, or Ogg Vorbis | media: sound || digital audio recordings
CeeDee Ripper is a GTK4 and Libadwaita desktop app for extracting audio from CDs.
It detects inserted audio discs, looks up metadata, lets you choose which tracks to
keep, and saves them as FLAC, MP3, WAV, or Ogg Vorbis files.
Will also grab and save cover art as cover. [*jpg]
CeeDee Ripper extracts audio from Audio CD's to these formats:
-FLAC is an open, royalty-free audio codec that provides lossless compression,
-MP3 is a coding format for digital audio using lossy data compression,
-WAV is a standard digital audio file format used for storing audio on Windows systems.
-Vorbis is a free, open, patent-free audio compression format designed for lossy encoding.
-Lossless means that per codec; that which isn't usually/normally detectable as sound by a person is data/input that is dropped by the codec or encoder as the recording is transcoded into a digital rendition.
-Since, you can't hear it ...
-If you only need to rip a CD and care none about that or the prior, CeeDee-Ripper has two Gui's available so to alleviate the unnecessary.
use:
ceedee-ripper --features egui-ui
for vanilla like flows
or use:
ceedee-ripper --features gtk-ui
only if you like me

meaning the audio is reduced in size without any loss of quality when decoded.
--Nice for playback, especially if your setup has nice acoustics that match your selection---MP3 is a coding format for digital audio using lossy data compression,
defined by the MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 standards. It reduces file size by removing audio data considered less audible to human hearing.
--Nice for collectors, and for those who have amassed ... a lot---WAV is a standard digital audio file format used for storing audio on Windows systems.
It's based on the RIFF container and typically stores uncompressed PCM audio.
--Pro Audio mostly, only ones who seem to need it but, for obvious reasons---Vorbis is a free, open, patent-free audio compression format designed for lossy encoding.
It's usually stored in the Ogg container and intended as an efficient alternative to proprietary formats
like MP3.
--Apple enthusiasts and other collectors, pure music lovers, aficionados---Lossless means that per codec; that which isn't usually/normally detectable as sound by a person is data/input that is dropped by the codec or encoder as the recording is transcoded into a digital rendition.
