CPU Turbo

Problem

Ubuntu laptops with Intel turbo, a discrete NVIDIA GPU, and background
container VMs run hot and loud even when you are barely using them.
Boost clocks, the Performance power profile, Docker Desktop’s VM, and
NVIDIA drawing the screen all dump heat into the chassis. The chassis sensor
gets uncomfortable, fans spin up, and the usual fixes are scattered
across Settings, the terminal, and a logout — so people leave everything
on and the machine stays warm.

Solution

CPU Turbo puts the heat switches in one system-tray flyout. Turn Intel
turbo off, drop to a cooler battery profile, stop the container VM, and
pick Intel or on-demand graphics instead of NVIDIA. The panel shows CPU
and internal chassis-sensor temperature, a live report, and a countdown so you can see
whether the laptop is actually cooling. Built by BinaryPlates
