DICOM and RT DICOM viewer, registration and segmentation in pure Rust
RDS (Rust DICOM Station) is open-source software for medical imaging and
radiotherapy research, analysis and QA, written entirely in Rust. It loads
complete radiotherapy studies (CT, MR and PET series, RTSTRUCT, RTDOSE,
photon and ion RTPLAN, DICOM SEG, planar images, registrations and
treatment records) for viewing, comparison and quantitative analysis.
Linked axial, sagittal and coronal views and dual-dataset comparison,
rigid and deformable registration, structure propagation, DRRs,
dose-volume histograms, 4D motion analysis, manual and AI-assisted
segmentation (TotalSegmentator, SegVol and MedSAM2 re-implemented in Rust,
GPU accelerated through Vulkan), a 3D view, a local patient archive, DICOM
editing, anonymization and export, and an MCP server
(rust-dicom-station.rds-mcp) through which an AI assistant can drive the
tools.
Model weights are downloaded on first use into
~/snap/rust-dicom-station/common/data/models. Folders outside your home
folder (USB drives, /media, /mnt) need one command:
Research software: not a medical device, neither CE-marked nor FDA-cleared,
and not for clinical decision-making. See LICENSE.txt.
