vocalinux

Vocalinux is free, GPLv3 voice typing for Linux. Dictate into almost any
application using fully offline speech recognition.

This snap ships the default whisper.cpp engine path plus VOSK (from project
dependencies). The optional OpenAI Whisper / PyTorch stack is not bundled
(large CUDA/torch footprint).

Features:
- System tray control and GTK 3 settings UI
- Offline dictation (speech models download on first use over the network)
- Microphone capture and short audio feedback tones
- Text injection via xdotool/xsel (X11 and XWayland) and IBus when available

Sandbox notes (strict confinement):
- Global low-level keyboard hooks (/dev/input / evdev) are not requested;

 use the tray menu when global shortcuts do not work.

- After install, connect the microphone if not auto-connected:

   sudo snap connect vocalinux:audio-record

- Config and models live under ~/snap/vocalinux/ (snap-private HOME).
